I made the mistake of dating my coworker last year. She was pretty, good cook, great lay, totally abusive behind closed doors. She hit me and criticized me constantly and drove me near suicide. I was a terrible alcoholic at 22, and being with her definitely didnt help. I got addicted to the liqour, which I wasnt even aware could happen. I had to drink every few hours or Id get terrible shakes and cold sweats. So my solution was to bring small drinks to work so I wouldnt be withdrawing in front of my higher ups (stupid idea but that was preferable to not drinking) . Im on deck to deploy which means at least $10k for 4 months in the desert. Things are looking up. One day at work, she tells me shes sad, something about family drama. I offer her a drink because thats the way I deal with feeling things I dont want to face. She takes it. The next day, my shop chief is chewing me out. Takes me to get breathalized at the security forces building (military police) . They force me to go to rehab at this shitty mental hospital where i spent a month withdrawing, away from my dear friends and couldnt even go outside the building. To top it off, he tells my commander what I was doing. Commander gives me an article 15, takes a stripe, and puts me on a control roster which means i cant deploy or get tuition assistance, so goodbye school and goodbye deployment. How did they find out I was drinking ? Come to find out, she was "worried" so her solution was to rat me out. She told them WE were drinking at work. What happened to her? Nothing. No rank taken, nothing lost, not even paperwork. Women have so much power in the military its disgusting. Not saying I shouldnt have been punished for what i did, i know it was really stupid. Its just not right she got off with not even a slap on the wrist. If youre in the military, please be careful.

Tl;dr abusive girlfriend tells on both of us to chain of command, i get completely fucked and she gets off with no repercussions.
