I would definitely go for Electrician and if you plan on doing any industrial work, plan on working with PLCs as well as some programming and ladder logic stuff, that would pretty much cover your bases for working in any modern manufacturing facility. I think basically any other trade out there is in pretty high demand and only rising as the Boomers die off/retire and don't pass on their knowledge. Break the routine, that's probably my best recommendation. Most people get into routines with stuff such as smoking and drinking. Next time you feel the urge to do said thing, or it comes around "that time" where you would normally do said thing, try and fill that activity with something else. I've been through the valley of suicide, the thought of it most pulling when I was in high-school. Eh, I've been doing it for just under a year. It becomes a lot less intense as you get used to it, the only problem becomes sleep. Definitely the best life-style change I have made in terms of my physical health, lost 42 pounds in 2.5 months while doing it. My longest personal "record" was I think 118 hours without food and water.
