I live in a country in the top 3 in terms of HIV infection rate. Whilst having a routine test, I got into conversation with the guy at the testing place. I was unmarried, gave a quick overview of MGTOW and he not only approved of it as a health and safety precaution in a country like mine but told me the biggest problem they have with their advocacy to reduce to infection rates is that the infection rates of married men and women is far higher than all other straight people, including commercial sex workers, and nobody has figured out how to tackle that.

He said he never worries about single men who come to get tested on their own because they're usually not 'in love', don't trust any women enough to not wear protection and care about their own safety, not showing trust and building their relationship. Married, engaged and long term relationship folks on the other hand are a mess and in spite of the cheating man stereotype, married women have higher infection rates than married men, and unfortunately most husbands refuse the even imagine their wife could cheat and never use protection, even when they themselves are cheating.

Meanwhile, most sex workers insist of protection with clients and tend to only have unprotected sex with their husbands and long term boyfriends as they see their bodies as money earners that must be protected. It also helps that most men also insist on safe sex if they with a sex worker even if they might not with a woman who they fucks as many if not more men for fun.

What he said made a lot of sense and there were solid stats to back it up but as a result of that narrative, funding for HIV prevention in the country has all but dried up as donors want a story of cheating, abusive men infecting powerless, weak women victims. Apparently protecting the good name of married women is more important than saving lives...
