I was thinking the exact same thing, there was no strong male in his household to bestow manliness upon him. A woman simply cannot make a boy a man, they can't... it's biology.

This is also what happens when children are instructed & trained (one could even say "indoctrinated") into the idea, the belief, the "doctrine" -- that all doctrines, morals, standards, "social constructs" and "norms" etc -- are solely & entirely "arbitrary" and "subjective."

If this guy had a strong male figure as a child, he'd know that one thing you don't do as a man is deliberately bring humiliation upon yourself.

The *ahem* "person" in question.. reddit user "_nill" (not linking on purpose) also has various youtube videos where he (it?) offers exactly that kind of "explanation" for dressing like this and purposefully going out in public as such... and despite the repeated claims that it's done for "self" it is also blatantly obvious (unwittingly admitted) that it's largely attention whoring... and rather pathetically whoring for ANY kind of attention (including "humiliation").

Chances are his childhood featured a LOT of humiliation -- overt and covert -- probably frequent, repeated, and from all directions (not the least of which was probably "mommy dearest") -- in a truly warped way this then actually becomes understandable: humiliation is the "norm" in his life, by doing this at least SOME control is gained over the how/why/what the humiliation is about... it's a sort of "pre-emptive self-humiliation"; and it doubtless actually "works" (at least in terms of deflecting/replacing OTHER humiliation).

Moreover, it's probably all he has.

Today's Emo's dress up like multicoloured homosexuals... that's not Emo, it's not even goth.

But the same (or at least A similar) underlying motivation is there: purposefully making oneself appear to be an abnormal "freakshow" to both draw attention to that freakshow, and to also deflect attention from other physical aspects of the person beneath it... and thus giving them a feeling (and a certain "degree" in reality) of "control" over or at least influencing of that reaction.

To wit: dress up in a clown suit (and take your pick there, you can take that literally {aka "Bozo the clown"} or as slang/metaphorically {a tuxedo}) and you alter the way people react to you -- in either case, it will be substantially different than if you're wearing some bog standard polo shirt or t-shirt and blue jeans.

Oh yes, I get you. This is the same reason I dress poor when I go into the city. [note: i'm not poor, actually a high earning Snr Software Developer, but don't want some hoe troubling me].

Somewhat similar to that, in the "use clothing to alter people's reactions/perceptions" manner anyway yes... but you are using it as camouflage to avoid attention, he's attempting to use it as "therapy" and to shape attention, and that's a substantial differentiator.

I mean for this dude to go to THAT extreme... means he must have experienced some total "shite" in prior years. (again, probably single mother, public school, etc etc etc).
I can even understand how some might (incorrectly) think that the dude is "going his own way" in being so defiant of cultural norms, etc (because one aspect of his attire is a big "F U!" to "normies")... but that really isn't true; it's more that he is "doing his own thing" and specifically TO be DEFIANT in a manner that draws attention to himself (and whether positive attention OR derisive attention he's still getting his "validation" from others via that).

That's not MGTOW.

And then of course there is NO aspect of what he does that smacks of being -- or wanting to be -- "without a woman"... in fact if he were to meetup with a female who was similarly attired, he'd probably jizz in his panties and maybe even think of proposing marriage to her on the spot. Add in a BJ...

I believe there ARE certain -- I suppose you could call them "enclaves" or else "neighborhoods" (not to mention "events" like Burning Man) -- where something similar DOES already exist.

In those situations, dressing/being "normal" -- jeans & tshirt, or khakis & polo shirt -- make THAT person a "rebel" and even "freakish."

Moreover, if the SJW's et al have their way -- as they seem to increasingly be doing -- then such WILL become common and even perhaps "the norm" in any number of urban "regions" (Cf Clinton Archipelago, or historically Weimar Berlin, etc) and especially certain "enclaves" within them...

Which of course then -- to them -- does make the REST of the country (aka Trumpland) a nation of "freaks" (or "deplorables").

When the inmates are in charge of the asylum...

(Or to borrow the other metaphor: "in the country of the blind" -- and no, as H.G. Wells story relates the "sighted man" will not be "King" but himself driven crazy, and labeled as such. Cf James Damore et al.)
