I've heard insane statements like "women have no intrinsic value outside of the household so they should know their place".

For everything that women invent, men invent a million more. For everything a woman thought to invent, a man already thought it before and he would've done it already if it were practical. I can't immediately think of an invention created by a woman without the involvement of at least one man.

How can you expect a woman to want to take your name upon marriage, create a child with you, and then care for your children and home if she ends up feeling degraded doing so?

Under traditionalism, the man was the breadwinner and he could do whatever he wanted to his woman. I'm not saying it's right, but contrary to your belief this shit has been happening since the dawn of time.
