Learned enough about investing & markets & stocks to grow portfolio substantially over last 36 years

Changed careers to computer networking, eventually move up to Director of IT

Studied technology, electronics repair.

Currently have projects going that include building furniture, blacksmith work, knife making, automotive work, gardening

Able to retire this year, work part time consulting on occasion

All about liberty & freedom

Nice- if you're western, learning eastern languages is particularly challenging. I've thought about picking up some Japanese myself, good luck on the Mandarin inflections.

Since my divorce I've picked up my Spanish and German again, re-learned how to play my guitar that was in the attic for almost 20 yrs and adopted a minimalist lifestyle allowing me to stockpile my cash. Work won't allow for long trips and stuff now, but when I get a break from making all this bank I'm headed out to the horizon somewhere.

Well self-discipline for one. Learned to cook so I could actually make myself healthy meals to help lose weight. And now I'm working on learning Spanish. Currently working on learning python programming as well.

I took a year and a half of russian; though I've lost most of it, it was challenging. I unfortunately got out of shape because I was using exercise as an escape mechanism and to burn off energy that would have otherwise been used to pull her head off; but I'm turning that around finally.

I've picked up ham radio, 3d printing, 3d design, woodworking, and blacksmithing. I'm going to learn to weld soon.

I've learned to appreciate quiet, minimizing owned shit, the shit I do own is top notch and will last me the rest of my life; I've cut out social media and focused on my friends the old fashion way.

I took up musicology and singing; posted a daily music history blog for three years, learned hundreds of new songs (including a few in Russian, Japanese, French, Italian and Kurdish), and started getting creative, too. I'm doing mashups and settings, and crafting lyrics for unsung melodies.
