Can you imagine their lives? The very skinny middle aged woman with short, choppy, dyed hair: she makes $48,000 per year as a staff accountant for a wholesale dry foods distributor based in suburban Akron, Ohio. She drives a leased Honda Accord and lives in a rented one bedroom garden apartment in a community built in 1998. It's okay but nothing fancy. She works in a 6x8 cubicle in a bleak office in a bleak office park in a bleak city. She comes in at 9 AM on the dot. She sits down at her desk and hammers away at spreadsheets until 12 PM, taking only a few breaks to stand outside and smoke or to look at cat videos on her phone (using the internet at work is strictly prohibited). She eats lunch outside during the warmer months, sitting at a picnic table facing the parking lot. There's a lot of goose shit around, but it's okay.

She works until 5PM and heads home in her Accord. She makes a Marie Calendar Turkey and Stuffing microwaveable dinner and watches several hours of reality TV before going to bed alone. The next day is the same.

She hasn't had sex in 3 years. The last time was when her friend (she has exactly one) convinced her to go on a double date with her. It was a one night stand and the guy never called her back.
