Very true.
People major in worthless shit; tack on huge debt and expect life to somehow workout. Piss poor planning yields piss poor results.
I was very lucky to attend university back in the late 90s to early 2000s; until the costs went vertical. I lived at home which dropped the cost further.
Working FT and scholarships helped. I paid off all my student debt in 1 year (medical school debt).
I was MGTOW (without knowing it) until the age of 27 when I had my first serious relationship. I am now almost 40 and have been MGTOW for almost 5 years.
I still date and fuck women - but I know they are temporary distractions.

There's really no reason most attorneys and doctors can't do this or come close.
I mean, besides stupidity.
I know at first they probably don't make big bucks immediately, but after a few years when you're making $150k or more, taking decades to pay off a loan for school seems ridiculous to me.

It depends on your nationality with this. If you are from Europe and get cheap or affordable degrees it may be worth it still. I did a lighter degree (law and politics) and it landed me a teaching job: I may do a masters at some point and head into law eventually.

I understand why people say this but I think it's criminal predation on young people and an obvious scam perpetrated by degree mills whose quals have no worth, upon kidults who have next to no way of knowing this before taking on student loan debt.
Requiring universities to publish statistics for in-field employment post graduation would make this less of a social cancer. I still don't really expect women to make good decisions though, because they fundamentally lack any agency.
Also society is just about too fucked for this to make much of a difference either way.
And, if you're a young MGTOW guy reading this, you're probably better off in the trades than in university, which becomes increasingly scammy each year.

A few rules they really should lay out in high schoool:
Don't get a degree in anything that doesn't pay well, doesn't have many open jobs in the field, or that you aren't interested in.
Just because they'll give you a loan does not mean you can afford it.
Be ready for college politics and the sjw meat grinder. Don't fuck around with schoolmates sexually unless you wanna be Title IX'ed.
Unfortunately at 18 I doubt most people are capable of reasonably following any of this advice.

I live in Europe and here the government actually makes it transparent how much you’ll earn with each degree and what are you chances of getting emloyed in your field. Also bullshit degrees like gender studies have a fee, meanwhile all students get to learn STEM for free. It really makes me upset how fucked up college fees are in the US.

It's similar in Australia to the US, except you don't have to pay upfront.
In Australia you take out a government backed loan that only needs to be paid back once you earn $40,000 or more annually, regardless of how you're employed.
There's millions (billions?) in unpayable student debt because the degree mills that are universities can easily trick kids into taking out a loan, which is instantly paid to the university by the government. On receiving their degree, many of these graduates are effectively unemployable in any kind of living-wage job because university coddles teenagers and they never learn practical life skills. It's a way that universities rob society. The university I went to is run like any other corporate establishment. It literally hires people to market for them and pays admin staff millions of dollars annually to increase revenue.
Now that I'm older, I realize that giving kids the ability to borrow tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars for a loan they have no guarantee of ever being able to repay is effectively predatory lending. There are no conditions for debt forgiveness, which means that the many young adults who obtained degrees that aren't very marketable are being swindled, including those in STEM where industry is vanishing and there's a glut of underemployed people.

There are a lot of useless degrees and then there are a lot of degrees that are useless without pairing them with another degree. Pair a theatre degree with one centered around CAD and you'll be able to get a job blueprinting theatre layouts, design, and construction. These days you can pair any number of useless degrees with a marketing one and get a comfy company job at Gillette.

Honestly, I get that. I majored in the arts but with an English minor as well. I now get paid to create art work for stock images and then get paid per purchase. Its not the best paying job, and some people don't even consider it a job, but I'm making more than some of my fellow graduates in both fields.
