Land in the US hasn't been free for a long long time. Best way of being off grid is being on a boat. Like me.

If you have an RV. Quartzsite, AZ has the La Posa LTVA which costs you $180 from Sept 15 to April 15. This works out to about $25 a month in rent. They also have water delivery trucks as well as honey trucks that will empty your black and grey water tanks for a fee.

Now that I'm thinking about this, I don't think you even have to have an RV to stay there. You can look that up though.

During the months that they're closed most everyone usually goes up north. Others go for higher elevation destinations for the cooler weather during those months. Some work-camp as hosts at various RV parks. Some parks pay while others let you stay there for free. It depends on the owners, but be wary that some will work you to the bone while others are more equitable about things.

If you want to go off the grid you have to own your property or become a drifter. The government makes it impossible to go off the grid entirely with property taxes. Being a drifter has less lugeries and way more risks but if you do odd jobs for cash you can have alot of freedom but you always have to travel and you dont have alot of security. You can usually only camp in the same spot in national forest for 3 days.

Im only 20 but my plan is to by land in the mountains where i live and build a cabin with solar panels and grow my own food.

We are living in the end times and it would be wise to prepare.

Not sure what country you're from, but Land wasn't free to just live anywhere on in USA even 300 years ago.

Someone always wants what you have, or demands fealty or compensation, or may not want you there, or you have to negotiate terms

In 2018 there are not many places you can live without having to pay taxes and/or get permission to build a cabin or tiny house.

Maybe deep in the Amazon jungle

Far north in Alaska, but even there some Federal lands are off limits

If you can save up enough $ to buy some land, the far northeast corner of Vermont still has towns with no zoning, and relatively inexespensive for 20 acres
