I’m 13 m and I’ve never known my dad. I haven’t started puberty yet but I know I’m gonna soon and I’m nervous. I don’t have anyone to talk to about it, and it’s starting to make me sad.
Also my mom doesn’t like sports but I do, and she’s letting me play them, but I don’t have anyone to help teach me at home. This is just a little thing, but it kinda bugs me.
Plus I have questions and problems and stuff that I don’t want to talk to my mom about at all. Idk what to do.
Did any of you grow up with no dad? What should I do?
EDIT: Thank u for all the nice replies and messages and everything. You guys are super nice and it’s made me rlly happy. I read almost every single comment but couldn’t reply to them all cus it was taking too much time. I think I responded to every message but if I didn’t I’m sorry, it just means I didn’t see it and u can send it again if u want.
I’m gonna ask my mom about signing up for Boy Scouts cus it seems like a good idea, and lots of u have been super nice and offered to give advice.
Thank u all :)

Any older male who tries to mentor him will likely be accused of molesting him. Because men must have an ulterior motive for interacting with children, and it's probably sexual.

This is bullshit. You're assuming and generalizing a ton here. Kids need father and authority figures. Period. End of story.

I've seen kids like these. Once tried to do a little science experiment with him.(Coke and mentos) Mom got in the way and screwed up the experiment.
He was very clearly desperate for some male approval. Gave him as much as I could. One afternoon and never saw him again.

Poor kid went to a pussy sub to ask. They're gonna tell him he just needs more soy lattes lolol. Only useful thing askmen will tell you is how to change your wife's tampon 😄😄
And the cycle continues

Men and women need positive male role models. That’s why there are so many desperate men and attention whore women.

Brave kid to use the internet as therapy :) Smart too to realize what it is that he's missing.

Man I wonder how many boys feel exactly like him, I feel for this kid man and as others have stated it sucks that if a man wanted to mentor him he would have to worry about being viewed as a pedophile because a man can't just want to help another human can they.

I'm in my third fatherless teenage boy mentee at this point; its odd that I even ever encountered one, much less three, but the universe seems to keep putting them in my path.
They are so desperate for basic Male shit. Learning rudimentary philosophy, being challenged and given shit and taught difficult ideas. I used to think kids these days are stupid but now I'm pretty sure it's our education system destroying their volition and will to know.

This is why I'd LOVE to have children. Unfortunately any woman I've even considered went haywire after a few months.

I think (in my more masochistic moments) that I would make a really good dad; I even have some circumstantial evidence that it's true. I could certainly be an effective provider.
Problem is I can't have kids. I can give a woman kids which she may or may not grant me limited access to depending not on any conduct or behavior on my part, but on her whims. If we have any disagreements about how they should be raised I will lose. If I think their mother is doing something to harm their development I have no recourse. If I wanted them home-schooled to avoid the torture of compulsory government schooling and she doesn't, well they're going to public school. The only thing I have guaranteed are bills.

Truer words have never been spoken. Strange times we live in these days!

Sad but I've seen this so many times. The problem with helping kids is the mom tries to get you to be their father. I've had problems where there mom would hit on me and tried to get me to be with them. At times the best you can you can do is be friendly but you can't get to close because of the moms.

Without a father or authority figure, there will be a hole in your maturity. Find an old fart that you respect. See if he is willing to spend time with you in exchange for you helping him clean his place. Nothing for nothing. He has to see that you are not just a punk wanting to steal from him.

Go to a boxing gym, if the coaches are any good, they'll turn a boy into a man. Not just because you will be able to fight, but because you will learn when/ if to fight, you will learn a skill, discipline (diet and training, sleep) and become a better person- plus you will gain much confidence. Boys become men through failure, you will fail many times training for boxing, in sparring you will get dicked at one point, but as long as you persist, you will overcome things like that.
