Yeah, you depressed dude.

You think you're looking at a bigger picture and not liking what you see. Reality is you're looking at a narrow slice and deciding it's the whole pie.

Exercise. Please. It is the single greatest thing you can do. Sure, your body likes it, but wait til you see what it does to your brain. It's insane. You go to the doc's, get into therapy, they prescribe pills that take a few weeks to start working and you start taking the edge off things.

Or you can do an hour's exercise and feel fucking awesome on the first day. Get on it.

I was lucky in a financial sense. After the split, I worked out what my child support payments were gonna add up to. Paid it to her in one lump sum. Left me broke, but also took away the stress of fucking around with it every month, and was a nifty way to bypass future incidentals - she signed a contract to the effect payments were done and done, so if I ended up unemployed or got a better paying job, either way didn't matter.

And if you are just producing for the system, either get the fuck out of it, accept your choice to stay in it, or go find something else to do within it.

Whatever happens, you need to get your head back in the game, and it starts with exercise. We can talk diet after that, but for now, do something you enjoy that makes you put in big physical effort. Join a gym, commit to going everyday for a month. The first two weeks are hard. By the end of the month you'll fight any fucker who stands between you and the gym.

I feel ya man! I've watched close family struggle with depression and for what it's worth that's what made me decide never to go the meds route, even tho I'm sure some doc would love to 'diagnose' me, not gonna happen.

Instead I try to figure out what is making me feel bad and work to change it. It can be hard but so far even the most questionable changes worked so well I have yet to regret any of them. I feel like you have some hard choices but I know you can make them. You owe it to yourself to make changes necessary to feel better, not to your kids or your ex-wife, or to society. That means you might need to cut them loose a bit more, but what do I know.. good luck brother!

You need to find inner peace brother, and stop chasing the ideal world you're wishing for in your mind. This attachment is the source of all your inner turmoil. The divorce and separation from you kids is a significant trauma, but you need to accept it or it will destroy you.
