Mentoring a female Developer:

Me: This is where we insert the new class and object

Her: Wait *checks mobile* I just need to respond to this *starts tapping*

Me: OK... here is where we call the object from the class

Her: Let me grab my coffee *walks away for 15 mins*

Me: ... Welcome back. Let's compile this new class

Her: See that guy over there, he's a creep... looks at me real creepy. If I report him to HR will you back me up and say he was looking at me creepy.

Me: ... Well, that's enough mentoring for today, go back to your desk and complete this example.

Her: Oh I have not got time for that i'm off to visit the HR department tee hee *giggles and walks away with coffee*

In all my years, I can only think of a few women that actually worked hard. 99% of them always took shortcuts or used manipulation to get ahead or stay in a job everyone knew they were terrible at.

Usually I was told to shut up when I asked "She's useless in that job. Is someone going to replace her?"

I'm hoping that at at least 30 of the remaining 40% just don't want to admit it, because otherwise that's a lot of stupid managers.

Just what unimaginable hubris it is: instead of a little introspection

"maybe the dynamic is not as strictly 'man oppressor woman victim' as we thought, maybe in order for men to come back its time for us to take responsibility and find a compromise, to keep ourselves accountable for abusing this power?"

They always go like:

"What? men don't want to risk a disastrous accusation for the opportunity to push a woman before men on a corporate ladder? We should find a way to lowkey force them into personal interactions with women even though meetoo was about preventing unwanted interactions in the workplace. We must force men to mentor women even though we invented the word 'mansplaining'".
