I wrote a comment in another post and it perfectly fits here and highlights a problem that arises after you have fired your ego.
I used to be extremely driven by my ego, which helped me outperform others. But after learning some psychology and philosophy, the ego thing died. Now I have zero regard for what anyone thinks of me. The good is that I'm more honest with myself, free of oneitis, and truly dgaf; the bad is that the desire for status was the driving force behind my action. Part of me wants that back. Because with the freedom to go in any direction, you're burdened with having to make a choice. All my life I wanted to be free and to feel like I'm enough. Now that I do, I don't know where to go other than seek out pleasure and thrill for their own sake. But I doubt that it will lead my spirit to a good place.
So.. Now that your tyrannical bouncer is fired, there is nobody to tell you what to think and what to do. Now it's your job to think and decide what to do, and that's fucking tough. Basically, you're forced to become a philosopher.

See, you might think that if I let my natural tendencies and emotions manifest themselves in their full potential, then who I really am is an artist, inventor, athlete and all the good stuff.. I don't think so. At the core I'm just an aggressive, vulgar dopamine junkie, like most animals. That's no good. Sure, I might be inclined to act upon the nobler pursuits like art from time to time, but the vulgar, primal emotions are stronger - they win in the long-run unless I'm consciously holding them back.
So I need to find or construct a meaning of life for myself, a mission that will serve as my guide similarly to how the ego does.

Listen. You don't crush your masks.
Life is a game of masks. You play it, or you sit out and watch everyone else excel.
Have masks for different people, different situations, etc.
Your mask / ego / persona is your fake identity. It blocks your inner self. You only need it on a bare minimum, to function in our society structure. Without access to your inner core, you will not be able to do the stuff you really desire or want because your EGO demands energy and attention to sustain itself. People with big EGOs are also doing what they do only for others (external) and not for their true selfs (internal). You will never find the answer looking outward. You have to look inward. And that means accepting your true self. Being radical honest to yourself and align your actions with your being. With an empowered EGO you cant reach that.

It doesn't necessarily block your inner self. You don't have one ego. You have multiple.

Except you don't go on to explain HOW to fire your EGO. All you do is give us a description. What is the point of this post?
