Siem Reap.
I know a guy who retired in Siem Reap last year. He seems to like it. I think he's been doing some online English teaching to help with living costs. Haven't talked to him for a while, but he said it was not going to happen in Thailand due to their strict visa regulations.

Accurate.
[β]1-800-CALL-MGTOW15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
where is this in the city?
[β]Dubphotek[S] 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
St 136, a few blocks from the riverfront.
[β]lonewolfsigmamgtow13 points14 points15 points 7 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link
ππππππ speechless. I wish i could have atleast half a million $ to settle down here.
[β]Dubphotek[S] 15 points16 points17 points 7 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
Why would you need that much? Could buy a number of passive income sources (e.g., businesses and condos) for half as much.
[β]lonewolfsigmamgtow8 points9 points10 points 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Really ? I just wanted to make sure that i am ok. Because we could only rely on info from western sources which said that i really is a war zone kinda place. I know it is all FALSE now. But i am fearful of settling down where the only language i could speak is English. Just for myself and what little i do have. That's it.
[β]Dubphotek[S] 18 points19 points20 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Not a war zone any longer. Violence is rare and attracts a lot of attention when it does happen. Tons of money flowing in from China. Can make a modest living just teaching English.
[β]lonewolfsigmamgtow7 points8 points9 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Wow. I would think about it sir, after selling all my assets maybe 5 years from now.
[β]Dubphotek[S] 12 points13 points14 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Visit first. Spend some time here and see if she works for you.
[β]lonewolfsigmamgtow3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Well i would certainly give it a shot then.
[β]Hollerich3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
What's your take on Siem Reap as a possible retirement destination? Also, I've heard from a few YouTubers that the Chinese are invading Cambodia, and that it has really changed it for the worse.
[β]Texian_Fusilier6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Spanish and German wont help me much there either
[β]lonewolfsigmamgtow4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
πππ point taken sir.
[β]Hollerich0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not clear on what you meant here. Do you mean buying a business or condo in Cambodia?
[β]moneybeatslooks1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
have you checked out that mgtow book for retiring there with 200k? Iβve read it and it provides a thorough analysis.
[β]birdmansandusky0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Can you link the pdf?

If you chaps like azn women, SEA is a poosay paradise for the unattached.
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I'm planning on visiting there relatively soon for that very reason. And because American women are just plain AWFUL.
My short-term goal is to date a pair of asian twins with tight bodies, lol. It's entirely possible.
[β]SaltyFoam-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
Jesus Christ this is cringey as fuck lmao
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (6 children) | Copy Link
Not "cringey" at all, and well within what's possible. Several guys have done it in fact.
What's cringey is beta simps like yourself posting bitter comments about things they know nothing about yet with an arrogant, smug attitude behind the protection of their keyboard.
Now that is "cringey as fuck."
[β]SaltyFoam-1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Lmao, struck a nerve, did I? I searched Phnom Penh on Reddit since I'm in the city and who would have guessed I'd stumble upon this subreddit of losers barely above incels. Enjoy banging prostitutes for the rest of your life because some girl (rightfully) scorned your ass.
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link
Emotionally healthy people do not go out of their way and attempt to put others down to make themselves feel superior somehow. Good luck with whatever causes you to behave that way.
I am not interested in petty drama. Have a good weekend.
[β]SaltyFoam0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
People who aren't scumbags don't hate half the population lmao. Have a nice life bud
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not interested. Thank you.
[β]photosoflife0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Lmfao, imagine going away on holiday to se asia and spending your whole time arguing on reddit.
What a pathetic loser you are.
[β]SaltyFoam0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, because I don't have to sit in airports for a few hours at a time or anything. My whole vacation, gone!
Ironic that you say that considering this entire sub is filled with pathetic neckbeards who claim to be "men going their own way" yet are entirely obsessed with the women they can't talk to/are afraid of lmao

A couple things worth knowing about PP, as I've been in Cambodia a while:
If you expect this metropolitan area stretching out for miles, and clean countryside reminiscent of Bali, you're going to be disappointed.
I say that as someone who loves Cambodia. It's just an incorrect portrayal of Phnom Penh and Cambodia. The city has a major pollution problem in its waterways and from the vehicles. The countryside is mostly characterized by red dust that clogs your skin and sinuses.
Can you get a very nice apartment for $500 US a month that would cost $2500 in an American city? Yes. It will be serviced, meaning you get cleanings and laundry. In PP, you can go to Carl's Jr. as easily as you can get noodles on the street. If you can't deal with noisy chaos in the streets, poverty all around when you're eating near a sidewalk, or rat's nest bundles of electrical wires, you may want to rethink any fantasy that develops about PP.
Eventually, I want to build a house in a remote area of Mondulkiri, a lush mountainous area in the east bordering Vietnam. It's very rural and way less hot.

So like Thailand. I've been to Bangkok, Phuket, Ko Samui, etc. It's as you described above - e.g., rats nest telephone wires bundled in a mess above your head on the street, congested traffic, poverty, etc. I don't like that, and that's why I stopped going to Thailand, although I do like the beaches in Phuket. Do Cambodians hate Whites as much as the Thais do?
[β]MGTOWinCambodia6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Cambodians really should hate whites due to the USA's bombing of the country (barangs, as they say, like farangs in Thailand), but they do not. It's a very young country with no desire to hold onto the past. They don't have the Barcelona or Paris fatigue that many Thais experience with too many tourists, tourism is much less of an overwhelming thing for Cambodia and is mainly associated with a move into the modern world. Cambodians also reserve all their hate for the Vietnamese. They really fucking hate them. Will they charge a foreigner a bit more money than a local for certain things? Sure. But it's still vastly cheaper than the equivalent in the US.
[β]Hollerich1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm wondering if the Chinese will change that. In fact, I'm hearing that they already have.
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for the "boots on the ground" real-world feedback. :)
How are Cambodian women? Can you compare them to say Thai girls and maybe Filipinas? What's your honest opinion about how they react to say American guys who have their sh*t together?
(For lack of a better frame of reference, given I only have experience in hispanic countries up to this point - hopefully I'll be staying abroad starting this year including SEA).
The rest of what you described sounded like the typical 3rd world country and I recognized some things from my experiences in the "not so great" parts of Peru, lol. But that's ok.
A guy who has experience abroad told me I'd do great in Indonesia but I've always been curious about Cambodia from what I saw.
Thanks a bunch!
[β]MGTOWinCambodia1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I have never dated Khmer girls. They are very conservative, many would not want to have sex until marriage.
Moreover, it's hard for them to not understand you as infinitely wealthy. You probably have enough saved up that's it's a bottomless pot to many. Lots and lots of white guys who marry a Khmer girl find themselves buying their father-in-law a Toyota Tacoma and putting an army of nieces and nephews through school.
I stay clear.
Most of my hooking up occurs with western girls passing through. The dynamics of the situation βΒ maybe they're backpacking or there for work or grad school β always imply this is not forever. It's worked out well for me, I suppose.
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for the info. That helps a lot.
[β]AMartinovich0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You marry a Khmer women, you get to support the family and ALL their issues.
[β]TryDoingSomethingNew0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, I would figure as such. Definitely also applies to a lot of other cultures as well.
Thanks for the note.

[β]bigboilerdawg5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
How much money do you need to have a decent lifestyle there?
[β]Hollerich1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Well, your car, motorcycle, apartment, medical insurance, maid service, etc. are going to cost you. I guess $50,000 a year would be the limit.
[β][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
$50k would do well for a single guy most anywhere in the USA. Is PP really that expensive now?
[β]Urishima1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Gesundheit
[β]lastlaugh1001 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
The women are probably thinner and hotter there too
[β]Hollerich2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
They all look so fuckin' beat, though. Same with the women in Thailand.

World class city? How do you figure itβs world class....explain?
[β]MGTOWinCambodia5 points6 points7 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
By definition, it is on earth, making it a world-class city. I think.
[β]MGTOWinCambodia1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
MGTOW in Cambodia here.
Curious how many others there are β maybe we're not really "meet-up" people, but I'd be interested in knowing how many of us there are.
[β]mgtow_too0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm sure there's gotta be some good hookers there. I love hookers.
[β]Throwitawaygood0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
With the most gut-wrenching poverty I ever saw in Asia, I'll take elsewhere anyday.
[β]Hollerich1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
What did you see, can you give some examples?
[β]Throwitawaygood2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
It was mostly homelessness. It's probably an issue all through Cambodia, but in Phnom Penh, it was out of control how many mothers with babies you'd see sleeping on a cardboard box on the side of the road. Or people missing limbs and begging, looking skinny as a rake. I'm not hugely into donating to beggars, but I gave up a lot of dollars there.
[β]Hollerich0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Thanks. I saw the same thing in Bangkok and Manila. It's hard core. But I got used to it.
[β]Throwitawaygood0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes true, so did I. Seemed next level in Cambodia tho.
I remember watching that homo No Joke HOward's and Expat MGTOW Unchained's videos in Cambodia. I think both of them are now long gone and back in the U.S. Chewed up and spit out by the Cambodia.
[β]shanghai_ren0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Westerners get murdered there all the time. Millions of people were genocided in Cambodia and these psychopaths still walk around freely. Murder for hire is cheap. Piss of the wrong person (and believe me asians are easily butthurt) or visibly have cash and you'll get murdered sooner or later. Non white countries aren't really places where I'd advise whites to live long term. Too much hate and resentment from locals...
[β]Hankman660 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Westerners get murdered there all the time.
Nonsense.
[β]shanghai_ren0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
It just quickly gets buried as nobody has any interest in investigating deaths of random foreigners. There is no justice in the third world and nobody will have your back if anything happens - trust me on that.
Third world people are more like animals and quick to rage murder you or arrange kidnappings and the like.
[β]Hankman660 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Nah, I've lived in what you call "the third world" for 14 years, I think I would have noticed. It's nonsense.
