When I woke up this morning I stayed in bed to read a few more chapters of one of my favorite web novels.
In the story the main character has been gravely wounded, and everyone avoids him out of fear of being punished for helping a suspected fugitive/enemy.
Everyone except a little girl dressed in rags, who offers him a canteen of water out of concern.
At this moment I remembered something I had written in the past in this subreddit, and I started crying.
The last time I cried was 13 years ago for having screwed up at my workplace.
This time I cried out of shame.
In the reply, I had written what my plans were when it came to having my own children, and how I would treat them depending if they were my son or daughter. The reason I cried was of how cruel my plan was for any daughter/s I might have in the future, which was to put them up for adoption.
Often times many people in this subreddit will preach AWALT, after this experience I will continue to be wary of female nature, but I will judge girls/women individually instead of throwing blanket statements like AWALT.
When it comes to marriage/relationships/something_similar, I continue to believe that AWALT in the times we live in is the right outlook.
If I have children in the future I will cherish them and support them equally, whether they are my son or daughter.
