It was terrible. I loved the show up.to season 4 but right now it feels they wasted one of the best villain in tv history. I was expecting Bran to do some time regression and fight the NK in his own terms....use the hold the door effect to change past? Nah. A face to face Jon Snow using thr Azor Ahai profecy? Nah. Just bring Ninja Arya out of nowhere and finish him just like that. None of the truly main characters died. Jon Dany Tyrion Sansa...they all still alive. It felt they rly wasted the dragons scenes. Overall really disapointing episode for me.

NK wanted to kill the 3 eyed raven, and he was there. That is why he attacked winterfell. In the last episode they explained why NK wanted bran dead.

Regarding arya, AltShiftX is even saying it fell really out of place for arya to kill the NK. They build the final between NK & Jon snow, only to have a 100 lb girl fly in ( yes she flew in ) to the middle of body guards, and land a blow. It does not fit in the books at all, does not fit in with the tv series. This was done for a politicial reasons.

I am not mad at HBO for such a weak ending to NK, (Not my words, many commentors ), just proves to me more and more that the media can not be trusted as guardians of society.

I was really annoyed by the darkness, figured it had more to do with my set up then the episode itself. Turned out I was wrong, they just made it dark on purpose the hide the terrible quality of the episode. Generally it just felt like an episode of arrow, or the flash, not that there is anything wrong with that, but it was so predicatable and so clear cut and dry. The video quality was so dark that I actually just missed *spoiler* the death starks waking up in the crypt and killing the people there, I just did not see it, I thought Wights had just made it in somehow. When I rewatched with brightness at 200% or something I could kind of make something from the episode but it was choatic and weirdly timed and in general kind of stupid. Now some might argue, well they kept it dark and choatic on purpose because the night king is comming and he is night and choatic incarnated or something. Ok fine but does that mean you have to make the episode so dark and choatic that I actually just missed major things that were going on. This was really just a fantasy movie comming to an end with a standard good/versus bad idea (which in my mind game of thrones was never about). The death of 'major' characters was not impactfull to me, generally because the episode did not grasp me because I had no clue what the hell was going on.

And now the problem with the total continuation of the story line and lore in game of thrones. The idea of the one prince, or azora Hai or something did no longer play a role anywere. Arya is not just the most op character because she trained a bit as an assasin, and apperently can jsut teleport whenever she needs. The Night king who was such a big treat was so simply killed, and only because he was acting like a total standard villian, not a methodical killing machine. So instead of killing bran (still not clear why he needed to do that) he stood there for a bit looking at him moving in slow motion ect. So the entire battle between light and dark was just played out, the light won, yeah, and now what? Kill cersei and be done with it, so dissapointing. You set all these beautifull frameworks of lore up in the earlier seasons and now nothing of that matters? Instead we have little girls killing giants and the biggest threats in the world because that find better in the social stupid climate? I would be very curious if GGRM actually let arya return to winterfell at all in the books, let alone kill the night king.

Lyanna mormont killing the giant was somewhat cool in the sense that I liked her character (i know she was again a token strong girl charachter but I dont know she did not bother me). And I liked the fact that they would give a an heroic death. However it was really dumb, why would a undead zombie giant pick her up and slowly crush her and bring her to his face? I can mabye somewhat understand a living giant doing that as to show his domination or his strenght to set an example. But a mindless drone giant should simply crush enemies as effective as possible. That being said decent job killing her off, only kind of stupid.

Besides from the millions of deus ex machinas going on in this episode, and the complete destroying of a 7 season long set up, I think the worst is besides the darkness and terrible quality, is the battle tactics. I mean game of thrones never showed to most intelligent battles but in general there was an idea behind certain tactics. Also some battle were more sudden in onset then others so it makes sense that things might be choatic. However why the hell would you face a larger force in the field, when you have a perfectly good defencible posistion as in a castle/town. Ofoucrse I realise that the dothraki arent the best in close quator fighting, and the unsullied are probabbly also better on the field. However you could see that there were chock points going on when the wights tried to take the castle/wals, meaning that you can limit the exposure to more enemies effectefly. Then the idiotic idea of charging in calevery (and light cavalary at that) unsported into an unknown force. Sure you can make the assumption that the white walkers do not form a spear wall, but still why not first you know see what you enemy is doing and then decide to charge. Also I dont believe the white walker army has any ranged weapons, besides from the dragon and the spear throwing. Why not use that advantage keep them outside the wall and hail them with arrows and ranged weapons and dragon fire. I understand that they were trying to lure the nightking in, however this was just dumb stuff that no somewhat decent battle commandor would make. The the fucking pitch with fire, why did you not have a mechanism in place which could light it easily, and not be depended on one of the 2 dragons to light it, or some red priest deus ex machina. I mean you have the time to make dragon glass weapons and all that other stuff, some pitch and oil was to hard? But mabye one of the biggest idotic things was they were trying to fight these zombies like an army. There idiotic undead beings, drive them in choke point and burn them off, I know that may be easier said then done, but really sallying out and holding a formation in open field, very smart. And its not like they could not had know, jon saw the 'tactics' of the Night king himself at hardholm. Just all in all really stupid and non sensical.

Yeah I’m watching it for closure now. Couldn’t even pay full attention during the flurry of blur, put a load of dishes in and grabbed some water, took some vitamins, then sat back down and didn’t miss a thing.

Spoilers ahead

Was hoping for a 1v1 Snow vs Night king. Even after he raised the dead I was thinking maybe a dragon would swoop in an d burn everything back down, leaving only Jon and the NK. Nope. Or Jon realizing he was immune to fire and rushing the dragon. Nope. Maybe if Jon actually did something during the battle I’d be concerned for his longevity if his ‘purpose’ was fulfilled killing the NK or saving the day. But it’s clear he’s just on team stark and not really the lead anymore second to his sister and half sisters. Take a seat in the corner, you know nothing.

Then was hoping in the garden, NK would touch Bran where the mark was and they’d duel in some mind world, or that we’d get some back story on this thug ass NK but nope. They used the episode to thin the heard of characters so we can end this shit show in a few more episodes. And it took a shit the moment they lost the books.

Seemed like a lot of shoe horning of the tiny chick to kill the NK with one shot and then he’s dust. See ya bud. I don’t care how much Assassin training that she got, it was lame and if she really was that good she wouldn’t have struggled in the library scene.

It’s one thing to have magic be somewhat believable in the series as ridiculous as it sounds, but some 18 year old chick jumping out of the wood work on an ancient being with bear omnipresence was a bit much. Oh and the baby stabbing the giant was hilariously bad.

Good thing I’m not paying for HBO.

Maybe unpopular, but I didn't mind Arya killing the NK. She was trained as an assassin and so I think her killing the NK was just. They didn't Mary Sue her in the episode since she did get injured and had to hide and sneak about in the castle to avoid the white walkers. I think that was very fitting to her character type of sneaky Rogue. The part I did not like was with how Lady Mormont killed the giant. That was pure bullshit and such a cop out for a useless character. When she got hit the 1st time by the giant she should have died on the spot. She is a child and just got smacked by probably 1000 lbs of force. Dead instantly, on top of that she was squeezed by the giant and should have died there too.
