Missing out on high school romance.

I know this probably seems ridiculous, but whenever I watch movies or shows that remotely involve any kind of high school love or romance, I feel like I missed out. To make things even more ridiculous, I'm 24.

I was physically attractive in high school with my Justin Bieber hair and boyish good looks, I had hot girls approaching me first regularly. Despite the abundance of girls approaching me (or asking their friends to approach me for them with the typical "my friend thinks you're cute"):

  1. I wasn't horny enough to care that much because my dick was desensitized from excess masturbation,
  2. I was shy, socially awkward and had no game, and
  3. I was a naive blue-pilled romantic who dreamed of cutesy teen romance rather than porn star esque sex, which in turn, led me to be a passive nice guy who didn't do anything with these girls (I believe 10+ pursued me through the years, I did not even hang out with or kiss any of them).

Fast forward to college - I lost my virginity at 19, rapidly learned game and banged 18 women in the span of 5 years. Most of them were at least 6.5s-7s. I had one serious relationship my junior year and was "in love" (yeah.. I was a complete simp) but I cheated on the girl all the time with multiple partners. I believe I felt as though I had to make up for all the lost opportunities in high school. I felt like I had something to prove to myself.

After college I calmed down, slowed down and eventually went MGTOW as I realized the costs of getting involved with women exceed the benefits. I rarely think about the past, I almost never think about high school. For the most part, it's an erased void in my life I choose not to recall. I'm in a good place now with solid future plans and a level-headed mentality.

However, sometimes popular movies include young-high-school-love elements even if that's not the main plot. Whenever I see this, it makes me feel like I missed out on the highly romanticized concept of young, pure, naive love. This isn't something that bothers me on a regular basis, it just comes up when I see these scenes in movies - I shut it down, stop thinking about it and quickly do something else to get it off my mind. This works, but it feels like I'm avoiding these feelings rather than facing them, accepting them, embracing them.

Just wanted to share this story, I'm curious as to whether anyone else here experiences/has experienced the same thing. It's crazy how something as simple as a movie scene can trigger these incredibly irrational feelings of regret and a sense of missing out. The human mind plays tricks on itself, but I will not let it bring me down in my path toward solitary contentedness.
