I still enjoy saying no to young women who ask for help, expect I will help them and feel entitled to my help while feeling no obligation to do anything in return. It's all about them, their needs.

The look of surprise, turning to incredulity, disgust, anger, and possible shaming.

I just say no, but I'm tempted to remind them they are independent, strong, women who don't need men. Perhaps I will at some point.

Yesterday my female boss had a meeting and complained about how the men need to pitch in more and lift the heavy things for the women. I told her I couldn't do that in good conscience because I am a feminist ally and that not only CAN a woman do the same things a man can do, they have a RESPONSIBILITY to do them as well. You can imagine how quickly the facade of the empowered female vanished from that conversation.
