Now, cost of a marriage:Average cost of the ceremony itself is $35,329 (source). Now, the cost of having a wife varies based on how much you spend on her for weekly dinners/gifts/mortgage for bigger house/travel expenses of hers that you end up paying. Let's assume it to be $100 a week + $500 splurge twice a year (with 3% increase every year due to inflation) for 15 years of married life. So, assuming marriage at 25 and divorce at 40 you would have spent $124,973. As inevitably, you would be giving up half your money to her and then child support. Child support that men pay on average is $5,450 /annually (source). So let's assume you pay for 10 years of child support, that's $54,500. Now, what about after 40? Professionals again? So, for the next 10 years you pay another $82,104 for professionals.
So, in total the amount is $296,906 + half of whatever you would own at the time she decides to leave.
