I was online at the local deli counter yesterday and there was a little girl and her mother nearby. The girl looked to be about four years old. She was dancing and twirling around like little girls do.

She comes over to me and sticks out her foot and proudly says “look at my new shoes!” She had on a pair of new looking shoes that were all sparkly and with little flowers and things on them.

Just to be nice I said “oh my! Where did you get such sparkly shoes?”

“At the store!”

I said “wow! They are very fancy. Do you think I could get a pair of shoes like that? Do they make them big like this?” And I held out my own size 12 shoe.

She laughed and said “NOOOO. You’re feet are too big.” I laughed back and told her she’s probably right.

I then asked why she picked out those shoes and she said “because I’m a princess!” She then turned around and skipped away back to her mom.

A princess indeed. I feel bad for her future boyfriends.
