When it signed its initial deal with the IMF in June, Argentina pledged to work on measures to boost female participation in the economy.

Progressive values are attached to the carrot. Feminism has big money on their side.

“It’s a problem,” said Maria Luisa Macchiavello, director of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services and another W20 speaker. “There’s a lot of women who decide not to work when they have kids.”
