Because back in day women didn't work so they had fuck all if they got divorced unless their family was well off. Case law was established so a ton of society wasn't running around poor after a divorce. Now women work and earn their own money but the law is very slow to catch up. Further the law really doesn't like to contradict itself at all as all law is based on previous case law. You don't get from A to B in law directly usually. It's more like A to W to X to Z to B with lawyers trying to find wiggle room along the way until we get where we are now.

When a law gets "fixed" it isn't because judges change their interpretation of the law or the cases - it's because a politician wrote a new one or removed an old one. So all law is political despite what people think

Not just that, they also say that the lower income earner(A) got used to mixing the bills with the higher income earner(B) and now that he(B) is leaving, it's gonna impact in (A)'s life style negatively.

For example: Julia earns 6K, Josh earns 20K, as you already know, women try to leech your $ as much as they can so she spends everything and most of the time Josh is the one paying the bills. If Josh leaves, she won't have a 26K life anymore and it'll impact her life...

I’d be a bit more understanding if the partner earned no money, but a lower-income partner (who is/was working during the relationship) can make adjustments to live within their means and/or find a better paying employment opportunity.

It is the problem of our current moral relativism. They believe that taking someones labor is justified, this is included in our current tax state. Alimony is an assault, someone is forcing you through threat of violence to pay them. The problem here now is that you made a contract with the State. That is about the only way they are considering it "legal" as this point in time. However it truly is unjust for the fact that you are no longer receiving benefits of the contract.

You can go on many different tangents with it, my base statement is the best I've found. It is morally wrong at its base, and no further excuses can change that.
