Times have definitely changed. In the past you could have a logical and respectful debate with someone about issues without fear of being banned or ridiculed because they are a protected group. I do not see myself as some 'social justice warrior' but it is very important to defend your view when someone tries to make you look silly infront of others.

In the past I have tried to defend myself - only to get called a woman beater or misogynist by the observing group. So now I do things a little differently.

Instead of getting into confrontation and making a counter point - make points that show the original view to be not correct in a positive way for example

Female: If a man doesn't shower me with attention than he is not the one!

My response: I have the same philosophy. We may never fall in love but at least we have our standards.

Another thing that people do not think about - it is a social law now that we do not incite hatred based on gender, sexual orientation, religion or colour. It is quite easy to get these people banned from twitter for inciting hatred against men. No one has focused on the gender aspect until I thought about it.
