So today I travelled to a somewhat distant city by train along with friends, to visit their local community of expat Japanese - shopping for tea, Japanese snacks and sweets and the like, and also eating a bowl of exceptional Ramen. Good stuff.

But on the way back, as soon as we had split up and I was on my way back, I was there with my haul of goodies, and thinking "Hmmm - I could drop by where woman A works, or maybe visit woman B and give them my goodies, share the wealth, impress them". I was, in other words, already making plans to simp out. I mean it's what I'd do with friends of mine, right? Share the cool stuff I found, much like me and my friends do - money was not the issue there, just, you know, the cool and unique stuff, the novelty - and that's better when shared.

Which was when I remembered...these women were not my friends. In fact one of them had actually turned me down, and either way - not my friends. You can't treat them like fellow men, either - they'd see you as a pathetic orbiter at best, besides, the goodies would be gone, and I'd be going out of my way to hand stuff to them. Bad idea. Really bad idea.

So I merrily went my own way, quashed the "simpulse" - the impulse to simp out - and went straight back home, sharing some of those snacks and pastries with my family and keeping a good amount to eat for myself. The right choice. I hope you don't come as close to straying as I did, dear gents, and if you do - remember what you learned here and go your own way. Cheers!
