If he struck her once, then fled (as in, defending himself) that is one thing.

But this is assault. Clear and simple, IMO.

If this guy was recording then something might have happened before the clip starts so I can not say much.

But given the information that I have he should not have hit her ,he could have shoved her back but he started it by smacking the phone.

It was obvious that he instigated the fight. Besides, more importantly we don't condone or promote violence against anyone else. And self-defense is only a necessary when a life is threatened.

Fuck that bearded asshole, he deserved to be locked up and get beaten up in prison by a gang. Let's see how that works for him.

No... theres a martial line of thought about "measured response". It prevents escalation.

I think that the first retaliation punch would have been enough. The two uppercuts and the final blow were excessive..

I think using force to defend yourself should be permitted, even to women. After the first punch he should have waited to see if more self defense was necessary.

I don’t need any more context. If someone doesn’t fight back you need to stop punching the person in the first place.
