Thats actually a pretty good analogy. In paychology, theres a technique called “the gray rock method”, and it is a way of dealing with narcissists by starving them of attention. Its funny that this sub is a natural version of that.

I have been coming to this conclusion for a while now and it's really sunk in. Women are very narcissistic. It's usually a sign of a spoiled entitled childhood where everything was done for them and anything they did for themselves was treated like the most amazing feat which the child loves but it also feels fake to them.

The interesting thing about this narc thing is that more man than women are diagnosed with NPD. However, I think I know why.

From the DSM on diagnosing a personality disorder: An enduring pattern of inner experience and behavior the deviates markedly from the expectations of the individual's culture.

This is where it gets interesting because I don't care who the person is, we all have some sort of bias (positive or negative) traits that we apply to males and females. I mean, it's the biggest damn division between humans. So pretending it's not there is fucking retarded. I don't care how educated the 'professional' has, they have these. And I believe that when a shrink is talking with a selfish man, he will be labled a narc way quicker than a woman will. i think this is especially true if the 'professional' is a woman. They have a natural in group bias and a 'you go girl' attitude which includes a giant pussy pass.

Men are held to way higher standards and clearly defined morals and women are always looking for and anticipating the slightest mis-step so they can come flying out with the "See, you are a fucking liar and a creep!" shaming.

This ties back to the 'deviates markedly from the expectations of the individual's culture'. If females are higher in narcissism in general, then other females are not regarded as 'markedly' different and are therefore not diagnoses.

Further, females in the cluster B, lacking the physical power a man does if he is antisocial, resorts to the mental manipulation and push/pull, constant testing of the Borderline personality.

Less men are diagnosed as BPD but I believe this is because men can't play that "look at how cute and harmless I am' game, or the 'he wants to fuck me' power dynamic.

To one extent or another, we all use the tools we have in front of us. If women could play the 'I'm going to beat you into submission' card, they would, but they can't. This feeling of helplessness causes great need of the man and at the same time, that need causes great resentment of him too. I like to ask the question "How do you love the boss?"

The boss typically has more money, more power, more control, and let's assume they have a greater intelligence or skill. And now you have to depend on them and accept their criticism and do what they say or you're done. And then now imagine you are supposed to 'love' that person too. Yikers. That's gotta cause some serious dissonance in the female mind.

But yes, I am with you. I think narcissism is the root of the problem. And enabling the narcissist means they will never be 'fixed'. And everyone enables the female. And there you have it. An unending paradox, an infinitely growing feedback loop.

The narc is 'never wrong'. It's always someone else's fault. They are deeply desperate for their food supply: Attention. It's the only way they can feel validation.

The empath wants respect, not attention. Respect is earned. Attention is fleeting and frivilous. But to the narc, who is usually 'average' at best, the only way to stand out and receive attention is through negative attention. Otherwise they'd have to face that there really is nothing special about them. That would be a miserable and slow death to the narc. So they end up in a race to the bottom. For women, they will have the ability to extract attention until they hit the wall. But that can take 35 years.

Until that point, every time they wanted a treat, all they had to do was look cute or sexy or cry. That's a long time. Imagine trying to de-program yourself from that after 35 years? It's impossible. Especially if they spent that whole time not really doing anything for themselves, learning a skill, learning to do without for long periods.

But if you haven't really ever accomplished anything yourself, or worse, never even really tried, there can never be any internal self validation mechanism. Oh what a tangled web they weave. And the web is an interesting metaphor because it is extremely lacking in substance and is relatively speaking, a very weak structure than can be torn apart by a stiff breeze. But it does catch a fly now and then.

That's all women and far too many men do. Keep repeating the same steps to get the same results. But when it stops working, they have no other 'tool' to work with. They have let their mind and body atrophy. Their thinking factulties are dull and simple. Then they get mad. "Why isn't this WORKING!" "Why won't anyone play with me!"

We've caught onto the simple pattern and went NOPE!

It must be like being the paraplegic sitting there watching so many people running and playing and laughing. How envious they must be. How terrible they must feel. And then, when you realize that the paraplegic had that shit happen to him, you feel empathy. But for the narc... they did it to themselves.

Great post, I agree. I do think that there are still women in society that never fell into that trap and were able to pass that trait down to their daughters, but social media might be the nail in the coffin if things keep going the way they are.

AWALT at their most basic. Societies from time to time had great punishments for women who broke rank or tried to let out the crazy.

But if you read Roman orators, French philosophers, Chinese bureaucrats, etc.

They all say women are difficult and if you given them an inch, they’ll destroy entire civilizations.

Do you mean narcissism as selfish and self-centered? Or do you mean narcissism as Narcissistic Personality Disorder? NPD is a much more vicious beast than selfishness. Most people (men and women) are selfish, only interested in their own feelings and convenience.

It takes actual effort to think outside of oneself and a lot of people just don't care enough to do that. That's different than NPD, because a lot of people do have empathy and if they feel bad enough about something, they'll take action. Not people with NPD. They have no empathy for anyone that isn't themselves, ever.

I'm so happy I left the country and do not have to deal with the extreme change in society that has happened. I will never move back!
