So I know a lot of media is pretty much trying to reinforce the "norm" for a weak man to deal with a woman, but how long has it been going on?

I ask because I was listening to random stuff on youtube, and well Wannabe - Spice Girl came on, and I had to listen to it because of a family member who was obsessed with them.

Then I started listening to the lyrics which is a mistake to begin with, but the shining examples are

"If you want my future forget my past"
...pretty much saying whore it up and the man should take it

"Get your act together we could be just fine" Implying it's obviously the others fault instead of the womens.

"If you wanna be my lover, you have got to give, taking is too easy, but that's the way it is" Pretty much she could take your shit and laugh but she wants you to hand it over willingly

"Say you can handle my love are you for real" basically she's a crazy bitch best be ready

I mean overall the song is just catchy pop garbage from the time it was released but then i heard those lyrics now that I'm older and wiser and it has me wondering how long this shit has been pushed without me realizing it until pretty recently.

I could just be over thinking shit since im tired and sick but it makes sense right now.
