I'm from the Philippines and I got in to a minor car accident earlier. I was crossing an intersection. It was traffic. Our speed was 5 km/hr, then I heard a loud sound. After looking at the side mirror, I saw that I got hit by a pickup. I was so angry. First, because the car was my sister's, second, it was a BMW and it cost so much to maintain. So I got out of the car, but the driver stayed inside, which pissed me off. So when he finally got out, I called him stupid. The traffic enforcers arrived, and they took pictures for evidence. They led us yo a police station to file a police report. It turns out their car wasn't registered, so they could be impounded if I filed a police report. It was a company car, and the driver was just a company driver. We could either have the insurance fix it, or they could just pay me $100 to have the 2 panels repaired and call it quits. The thing is, at the back of my mind, there were already scratches. Granted there were new ones from the incident, it was already damaged to begin with. Since the driver had no money, we settled and he agreed to pay me tomorrow. I also asked for a police report and a written statement that I will get paid $100 tomorrow. Now I feel guilty that I asked a poor guy for almost half of his monthly salary. It was still his fault though. When I went home, I showed the car to my sister and told me the scratches were new. Even so, it was already scratched from before, so I am stressed. I don't even care if the guy pays me or not tomorrow.
