Because it's the only tool that they have, they lack strength, authority and intelligence so they complain to white knights and betas to do the job for them.

Now I do not know how much of it is true or not, but I will point out that Rito (sic ^_^), out of the many gaming companies out there, takes pains to be seen as and present themselves as progressive, quasi-feminist and what have you not. They censor/moderate in-game chat and forum quite strictly, have all kinds of new "diversity" hires in the newer champions or champion reworks/modern content etc.

I mean they're not naughty dog, but they seem to have drunk the kool aid. So this article either stems from the fact that Kotaku think they'll lay down and take it - or because most male feminist are in fact not genuine. Male feminism is often instead a mating strategy based on deception (oh the irony) - coming across as even more offensive to most women because not only is it creepy in and off itself, but most male feminist are rather unmanly and unattractive as well.

Probably both tbh. But then, Kotaku was a notable pro-SJW outlet/anti-gamer outlet during the entire gamergate thing, so I'd also take anything they write with a truckload or so of salt.
