This is just a little bit of information about how my mother distributes chores that I thought you guys might find funny. So, I should start off by saying that my mother is self-employed and usually stays around the house, though occasionally will go out to meet with clients. When she is at home, however, she ends up spending most of her day on Facebook. Now, I will give her the benefit of the doubt abd say that she spends around 30% of this time (8-10+ hours) promoting her business and talking with clients. The other 70% is spent on personal Facebooking and other internet use. I say this because I know she doesn't spend more than 3-4 hours a day promoting and talking with clients. Being at home most or all of the day while my stepfather is at work, naturally most of the chores fall on her to do. This includes cooking, sweeping, mopping (rarely, maybe 2x per month), vacuuming, dishes, etc. She does all of the cooking, has my brother and I do the sweeping about 50% of the time, likewise with the vacuuming, and has my brother and I do the dishes about 85% of the time. I know what you're thinking, "But u/okaythatsfine43, she does all of the cooking, you should pitch in too." I'm not opposed to doing chores. However, the cooking she does, which is generally oven or crockpot meals (so about 10-30 min. Prep and then waiting for a little while) doesn't require too much effort. Now, I'm not sitting here complaining about having to do these chores, but here's the thing: she is. She does maybe 4-5 hours of chores a week, and then complains about us (my brother, stepdad, and I) never helping around the house. It's funny really, we do about the same amount of chores as she does but we don't help enough. If I try to point any of what I've said in this post to her, she gets offended and then I back off. I love my mother, and obviously it makes me feel a little guilty to hurt her feelings, but then I think about how she really brought this upon herself and all I'm trying to do is help her see that. If this were my wife (not that I want to get married), I would get fed up with it real quick. So men, Go Your Own Way, and you won't have to deal with nagging, complaining, and all that jazz. It's much cheaper to hire a maid than it is to have your wife spend your money then take half your stuff in a divorce.

TL; DR: Mother has some inaccuate ideas about house chores. GYOW.
