Gf of 2 years has severe depression and anxiety. I've helped her see tons of professionals, but she claims it hasn't worked and since a few months ago she's completely given up on therapy/medication and refuses any more help. I feel like I've been treading water. Anyways as she no longer works but we live together, I pay for everything. A few months ago she said she wanted to start painting again, so I bought her all the supplies and paints and canvases. All I asked of her was some basic tasks while she'd be at home. Like washing dishes after she's done with them, picking up after herself, not making a mess of her painting area, and not getting paints on the hardwood floors or walls. She's pretty much done none of that. I come home to crusted over plates of food in the sink (not soaked), clothes lying around, art supplies EVERYWHERE and dried paints on nearly all surfaces. Every time I ask her to clean, she gets mad at me and claims it exacerbates her anxiety knowing that I'm constantly expecting her to do these things when her depression won't allow it. Things reached a boiling point this past weekend. I was out for a business trip (4 days) and I asked her little the bare minimum of tasks to do, which is basically let my dog out into the backyard once a day and let him back in after 1 hour. It's snowing and cold out, but my dog is high-energy and needs that 1 hour every day to romp around in our fenced in yard. I asked her if she's capable of this or else I'll find someone to come over, but she got offended and said yeah she can open a door once a day. When I get back, I don't see my dog anywhere in the house. I see my gf watching tv and casually eating snacks on the couch. I ask her where's my dog, and she sheepishly looks at me and says "I don't know." I freak out, ask her what the hell that means, and she says she let him out the first day I was gone but after an hour he wasn't back at the door. I asked her if she went LOOKING for him, and she said no. I'm flabbergasted. I run into my backyard to look and eventually find my dog huddled in a tiny crevice underneath the deck. He is half frozen and non-responsive. I rush him to the hospital and they find he's suffering from hypothermia and he was barely hanging on. After what felt like a nightmare, he's now okay and slowly recovering. It was a good thing he's a big, fat, fluffy dog to start with or else he would have surely died. I am so mad at my gf I don't know what to do. She hasn't verbally apologized, but she's cried and cried and keeps bringing up how she felt like she couldn't call me about my dog missing because her anxiety once again kept her from doing anything useful. She's begging me not to dump her and she promises she'll start getting professional help again. I've asked her so many questions "did you look for him? Did you hear him barking, scratching, anything?" and she just says she can't remember. I just don't know. I can't shake the image of her sitting on the couch, eating tortilla chips, and laughing at the tv all the while my dog was freezing to death in the backyard. What should I do? Should I give her another chance, or should I just move on? What would you all do in my position? tl;dr: Gf has severe anxiety/depression that prevents her from doing basic tasks and she has refused professional help. I left for a business trip one weekend and asked her to let my dog out/in. She let him out and forgot about him, leaving him to nearly freeze to death. Now she wants a second chance and promises to get help. What should I do? Should I stay or leave?

In some states he might be within his legal rights to shoot this bitch. He could claim he was defending his property(that poor dog). I k ow I’d be extremely tempted to do so if someone did that to my dogs. What a useless cunt.
