I’m gonna give you some fatherly advice. Crawl before you run. You are 16 and you are sold a bill of goods that a cool car will get you sexual currency. This bill of goods is correct in that regard but is that all you want out of your time here? Also learn how to keep a pile running before you try to fabricate. Not being a smart ass because I was you! These cheesy old sayings are still around for a reason no matter how many languages they change. “The devil is always in the details”.

hey if it makes you happy, do it. fixing up your own car and making it your own is great, you learn a lot, and a trade, simultaneously, which gives you huge social cache with people.

Knowing how to do anything is valuable, but fix a car? you can get mountains of beer, sex, whatever currency is valuable to you.

Gull wing makes it harder to park because it swings out to the cars next to you in tight spaces, suicide doors are more of a black cab courtesy if you like that.

Either way, who cares? It's whatever you want. It's all building knowledge.

Get something simple that runs well. Then pimp it up on weekend projects. There's a reason those cars are at auction and not a used car lot

Gull-wing doors, Butterfly doors and Suicide doors are al very cool, and each comes with their own engineering challenges. I personally think that it goes a long way to make your car YOUR car! customize it however you think would make it look the coolest TO YOU!

Just take your time and make sure that they are safe when all is said and done.

The fact that you think butterfly doors are a good mod, shows me that you have no real experience with cars other than fast and furious movies. Those doors will break after a few weeks of normal use and then you won't be able to open your door one morning or you'll get locked in and will be late for work and get fired. But do as you please. The only butterfly doors that work are factory Lambos, McLarens, Deloreans, and the Ford GT.

I've had Jeeps, Vettes, and trucks. You never get back what you put into them and always wish you never modified. But I'm 27 and a relative old head.

Here's my advice, and I'm nearly old enough to be your gramps. If your goal is learning a side hustle while you learn about cars, learn about what people will pay for. Most people don't want gull wing doors or suicide doors. What they do want is someone who knows what that squeal means when they turn hard left. They want someone who knows how to fix that dent they got in their driveway, without having to go through insurance and paying their deductible. They want someone who knows how to get their damn car to start so they can get to work or school. As someone else said, you gotta walk before you run.

And another thing, mods like you're talking about means your ride is down hard for a while. And if you f it up the first time (very likely), your ride is down for a long time.

But, you're young. You're going to do whatever you want. And learn a lot of things you didn't want to. Lol.
