I thought I’d share a few more thoughts, seeing that my post yesterday was appreciated. Everyone have their own ways to GTOW, but here’s mine: a mix of minimalism, stoicism and MGTOW.
One. Minimalism. This way of life has gotten some negativity in the past, but more and more people are realizing that there is a lot of to be had for less (though that sounds painfully cliched). When I see people posting pictures of their awesome toys or vehicles, I think “That is something that this individual values greatly”. Too often, we get distracted by things that we don’t need or that don’t give us happiness; we end up working more to buy more crap that we are ultimately going to throw away or donate in frustration. Too much credit card debt, too many “easy” monthly installments. I try to be mindful of what I own, lest things end up owning me. One of my favourite books to this day remains “Goodbye, Things” by Fumio Sasaki. I highly, highly recommend it.
Two. Stoicism. We cannot control what happens to us beyond a certain point. All preparation can be undone by a freak snowstorm, a delayed flight, the death of a loved one. We are all going to die. So why worry? Why do you want to wait for a doctor to tell you that you have a stage 4 cancer of the prostrate and that you won’t make it past the last pages on this year’s calendar? Go out and live. Carpe Diem, gentlemen- seize the day. Make grand plans, save money, take a walk in the great outdoors, spend time with family and enjoy the journey of life. Make every day a building block to achieving a dream, learning a language, becoming better MEN. Without the shackles of marriage or a relationship, the sky is the only limit and we are our only obstacles. Keep yourself accountable, contemplate often, remain humble and hungry. Control what you can, leave the rest to the Fates.
Three. MGTOW. Remember that lust is pivotal to the evolutionary urge to reproduce. You see a beautiful woman and the untrained mind immediately pictures that woman bent over a table, her gluteus maximus a deep shade of red from spanking, and the faces reflecting the carnal pleasure of being intertwined. However, the MGTOW mind sees it differently: the woman has simply won the genetic lottery. Her father and mother gave the right combination of a sperm and an egg respectively to give birth to her. Hormones and the environment changed her from an ugly duckling to a swan. Add make-up, fashion, decent lighting and an expensive iPhone X camera filter and you have a boner-inducing photograph of beauty. But that beauty is coincidental, intentional and more importantly, ephemeral. She did nothing to deserve the attention she deserves; she was born with it. I’ve seen some angry posts on MGTOW, but I always take this stance: if you see a beautiful woman, observe her as you might a flower. It is indeed beautiful, but it too shall wilt after spreading its fragrance upon the desert air.
I hope you enjoyed reading some of my musings. Take care, brothers.
