I am covering for my boss this month while he is out on medical leave. The team I am managing consists of eight men and seven women with identical responsibilities. I conducted one-on-one interactions with all of them this week.

Of the seven women, six told me they want me to go to bat for them to get a raise or promotion or both.

Of the eight men, six asked me what they can be doing to better prepare for new opportunities or leadership roles.
