The majority of my clients are single women and often they make flirty comments to me like, "wow, you must work out!" After comments like that I smile and humbly thank the ladies for the ego boost, in a joking tone, and follow up with the statement "I just hope maybe it will inspire my wife to be nice to me one day." The women often look suprised because I appear to them to be a catch. I then ask those women the following question (under the guise of curiosity and half joking smile); "after being a hard working provider, faithful husband, good man, helpful around the house, and an unquestionably great father, what incentive would a stay at home wife in a beautiful home (with both our names on the deed) with 3 kids have to be remotely nice, respectful, decent, etc. to her husband?" After asking that question I get a range of answers usually critical of the wife. However, today a woman (in front of 3 other women) said in a serious tone that, "a woman in that situation would have NO INCENTIVE!" The other single women started to disagree with her, but I jumped in with a smile and said, "I think you may be right and I wonder if that lack of incentive may be at the root of many the problems we're having in our familys and country today."
