Reading, studying, and doing my due diligence has brought me to this:

I generally ignored the news about crypto for a long time and just focused on mutual funds. Eventually it got to me because it was everywhere.

I transferred $3k from my bank to my taxable account at Fidelity and bought 3 shares of the only bitcoin stock I knew about from a video (GBTC). Each share was $954. I had no more money to move because I need to keep 12 months of cash on hand at all times in my savings account.

Needing more funds to meet my goal to rocket upwards I looked at the Roth at Vanguard.

I sold my shares of VGHAX and got the funds at the end of the day (~$88.6k). I only had that one fund in the account.

That was Black Friday. I tried putting in an order for GBTC there online but was denied and had to call.

Come Monday, I was able to get 50 shares of GBTC for around $67k.

Today, that account eclipsed the $100k mark. I used the other $21k to buy shares of VGT and VHT because I could never afford their Admiral shares.

To sum:

-Oct. 2015 ($100k net worth)

-Aug. 2017 ($200k net worth)

-Nov. 2017 ($300k net worth)

I also bought 1300 shares of BTSC, which was up 25%. It's only .44 cents a share the last time I checked.

*I have other accounts as well that's contributing to these figures but I'm excited that I had enough play money in the Roth to really make decisions that aren't limited to what a 401k offers.

*This is NOT an endorsement of cryptocurrencies either. Don't lose your life savings by getting digital gold fever like so many did with real gold fever.

I only invested $70k of money originally, so I still had over $200k spread out elsewhere.

Lucky for me, I have other retirement accounts that disallow me to buy stock.

One good thing though: since this is all in my Roth account, NO taxes on withdrawal in retirement baby!!
