Most women get married for love. Or, rather, they get married for what they think love is: feels.

When a woman is walking down the aisle she isn't thinking about all the money she is going to get in a future divorce. She is thinking about how good it feels to be the center of attention, and to have her friends be envious of the husband she landed, and that she has an attractive husband. She isn't thinking about how her husband would appear less physically attractive to her if he wasn't as wealthy, or didn't have as much social status.

Women follow their feelings. If you gave them a lie detector test they'd come out honest. Heck, I bet half of the #metoo crowd could pass a lie detector test, because they're probably honestly creeped out that they ever agreed to have sex with some guy just to get ahead, and they genuinely regret the sex part (but not the getting ahead part).

And when she divorces her husband it is because she feels like he is a creep. And since he is a creep why shouldn't she take his money? He deserves it after all.

Women don't plot to be gold diggers. They're just gold diggers by nature. And nobody calls them out on it, so they keep on doing it, just like a dog that never gets punished for digging through the garbage.
