I’m no psychologist, so bear with me if this just sounds like gobbledygook.

I first became aware of the concept of ‘locus of control’ through financial independence websites, and it makes a lot of sense to me. It essentially states that someone can either have an internal ‘locus of control’ (meaning that they believe that they are responsible for their own life) or an external ‘locus’ (meaning chance or fate controls their life).

We’ve all seen it. People making whiny excuses. ‘I never had the chance’. ‘These things never happen to me’. And my personal favourite - ‘I was born disadvantaged’. And what do all these people have in common? At least from my anecdotal experience, they are all unhappy.

If we want to live healthy, fulfilled lives, well, let’s focus on improving ourselves, staying positive, getting wealthy, and living with a mindset that we can always be doing things to improve our situation. Fuck those whiny excuses, let’s go our own way.
