When you approach a girl, you both know why you're approaching, but day game requires playing a little bit of pretend. Even when that same girl you're approaching is going to meet a Tinder guy tonight for drinks and go home with him 45 minutes after meeting him. During the day, her guard is up.

Fist, recognize that 75% of the women you approach are just plain not going to be interested. You have zero chance. That's fine. You spend the first 30 seconds figuring out whether a woman is in that other 25% or not.

Second, don't creep up behind a woman if you can avoid it. And when you approach, get her attention with a Hi or Excuse me first. Don't just start talking about something. That's weird.

Third, nothing personal at first. Her guard is up. Ask something contextual and impersonal about the situation. If she's buying a latte, don't ask if she likes coffee or if she comes here often or if this coffee shop is close to her work. Ask her if the lattes at this place are any good. Now look at her reaction. Does she make eye contact, smile, and respond with a complete sentence? Or does she barely look at you and grunt a two word response before pulling out her cell phone?

If she acts interested, that's your chance to continue the conversation. No personal questions yet. Talk about coffee or the coffee shop or the location being close to where you work, and drop in a few tidbits about yourself that she could ask more about if interested. See if she bites on any of those and asks a follow-up question. If she does, answer it, then ask her something. Boom, you're having a conversation.

Keep things fairly short. Maybe 5-10 minutes tops, unless you're in a setting at a time of day where it wouldn't be abnormal to sit down and talk for longer. When things start to wind down after 5-10 minutes, say that you need to get back to work, but add "You seem really nice. We should get a drink some time", then ask for her number. Say it like you say this to women all the time. It's not a nervous, awkward moment. She knows why you were talking to her. You know why you were talking to her. You both know you didn't really want to know about the lattes. It would be weird and awkward -not- to ask for her number.

Set a date within 1-3 days of getting her number, before she has a chance to forget who you are or why she was ever interested.

And remember, most people don't talk to other people in public. They stare at their cell phones all day. So you talking to a girl, even when she's not interested, may be the most interesting thing to happen to her today. Do her a favor by talking to her.

hey were young, at first they looked weird at me, then a girl kinda smiled a little but her friend ignored me. And I left because they looked high school, still I felt I should have continued the convo.

This is common with young 2 sets and an obvious opener. Don't shy away. Push. Have fun and plow like your life depends on it. You don't always need to annoy the shit out of your targets, but you need to light your comfort zone on fire. If you've never gotten cussed out for being too aggressive or threatened to call the cops on your ass, you aren't going hard enough.

I wish there was a good written daygame guide I could link to, but I don't like any that I've read so far. Magic Bullets is the pickup bible, but it's overly tailored to night game. YT has some great daygame infields, but I don't want to do free marketing for anyone in particular. Find somebody you like and try their openers out.

That's kind of condescending; of course they reacted poorly.

Try, instead, "hey, did you find that killer angle yet?" And then start rearranging them and trying to help them take a good photo. Nice opportunities for teasing and banter.

Like ask for directions or a subject that is related.

Yeah, that can be helpful. The challenge is switching to a sexual/mating frame without making it seem like it was all a ploy, undermining trust. Usually you want to do 1-2 minutes of banter, and escalate on a high note: "Hey, you seem pretty cool. I'm ____." And that's your transition.
