Gotta have her get a lawyer to review it and advise her on it independently from your lawyer, gotta get a signed affidavit reviewed by both that she understands it and that she isn't signing under influence or duress. Gotta plan for contingencies such as children and their effect on the prenup as well and any changes in work. Gotta be completely honest and out in the open about all assets

THEN as YOU pay for her to divorcerape you, you have to pray the judge upholds it and doesn't throw it out just because they make the assessment that money you earned prior to even knowing the person is half theirs too.

None of this is necessary if you never marry, never cohabitate, and never have kids.

As a young Australian, I kept seeing horror stories all around me. First of all, whenever there was a divorce, the woman wound up living in the house and the man was gone. This happened in the house across the street from us, the house next to that, the house 2 houses down from us, the house six houses down from us...and the house next door to us. Those are just the ones I knew about, but as a child and young teen it taught me to be suspicious of marriage and aussie courts. Men didn't seem to be getting a fair deal.

One guy was a realtor and built himself a mansion towards the end of a successful life. Three stories and the largest house in our town, custom design. Kids were all grown (20's or over) so wife divorced him.

He now lives in a caravan on the same block of land while his wife has the house...

The guy next door to us went to my father's funeral. His name was Steve. He came to Australia as a poor Polish immigrant and became a builder. He bought an old, run down house next to us and as he built his business he also rebuilt the house, adding extensions, a garage, transforming it from wood into brick etc.

After ten years of work I remember him telling my dad excitedly that he was going to get married. He felt secure enough, had money, his own house - so he was going to get a girl from "the old country", Poland. So he did.

And ten years after that he was gone (though he did come to my dad's funeral.) His wife and two daughters still inhabit the home he built. I don't know where he is now.

The final straw for me was Wally though. Wally was an old guy (I thought at the time) in his 50's who had been divorced by his wife. She got the house, AND a restraining order- he was not even allowed to drive down the street it was on; the closest he could come was to stand at the street entrance and look at the house he paid for. Meanwhile his wife was living in it with a man 20 years younger than Wally. He always tried to keep a stiff upper lip but one time at work he broke down crying saying "I know he doesn't love her..." so it was obvious he still carried a torch for her.

So this bitch is living like a queen. Not only does she have a house to herself, she also gets part of his income paid to her every month. Wally meanwhile now lives in poverty. Has no house of his own so he has to rent, and in addition part of his income is given to her every month. Wally still works; she doesn't because she doesn't need to.

Anyway one day at work Wally gets an official looking letter and opens it - it's a summons. His ex wife is taking him to court. She knows he is 2 years off retirement now; she is suing him for 50% of his retirement money. (In Australia at the time when you retired you could take a large chunk of your retirement money as a one-off lump sum.)

In one stroke she has reduced him to living in poverty not just for now, but for the rest of his life. It was possible - very unlikely, but possible - that if his payout was big enough he might have gotten a loan and bought a house for himself - which would have meant at least he had his own place. But now she has just destroyed his hopes. He is fucked and he knows it. He is now condemned to live for the rest of his life in poverty then quietly die. Meanwhile she gets a lump sump - perhaps she will go on a world tour, or buy a new car, or who knows what. And him? Fuck him, right ? What does she care...

That was the final straw for me. At that moment I decided never to get married in Australia (Some time around 1990). And I never did.

He probably had the option of buying out her share of the home equity. My guess is that he kept the house and since she was entitled to a portion of that too they just took out more from his retirement

Before you get married, should you ever do that, have her hire an attorney, you hire yours, video tape it, and have them ask her, are you doing this under duress? is any one forcing you? blah, blah, blah. . . .

I'm probably going to get downvoted to hell and back, but here I go.

The legal system we have now is in place for a reason. Court rulings like that were set precedents for a time where women had no choice but to be homemakers and child raisers. Therefore, if a deadbeat husband decided to divorce her or if, somehow, she were able to divorce him- she could leave the abusive situation with her kids and no get put out on her ass with nothing.

We've perverted marriage, sex, and love and have gotten them all mixed up. Don't marry a woman unless you both share the same values. Don't marry a woman if you've only been with her for a year (a year is NOT a long relationship.) Don't marry a woman unless your dreams for the future can co-exist.

Don't blame the legal system for your shitty decision to marry the first floozy that pays you the light of day. I will admit that 70% of the man's retirement fund is ridiculous, but we've been given very little facts on the situation. Divorce settlements are very complicated.
