My brother is what the PUAs call a natural.

We look nothing alike (when people see us they are surprised to learn we're related) but when he got married and had a kid, the little boy came out looking like a carbon copy of me.

At gatherings people think my nephew is my kid.

So as far as I'm concerned, whether I have my own children or not, my genes have already been passed.

If I don't end up having kids, my nephew's going to be a millionaire from inheritance.

But really, aside from an unusally high IQ (which I would argue is a negative, not a positive), there's really nothing special about my genes. I do not have Helmsworth-level aesthetics so it's not like I'm going to pass my "wild Atreides genes" (Dune reference) to further humanity.

Lol, pass on genes...that's the lamest excuse for having children. Why pass on genes when you can just leave an amazing legacy. All the great men in history didn't have children and inspired the masses. Yet, while people had children and they went the complete opposite direction than their parents. With every passing generation your genes will be diluted by a factor of 2. After 10 generations -> 1/1024 of your original genes will remain, the other 1023/1024 will be from other people.

Why is passing on your genes a problem? If you reproduce you aren't going to have a revelation signaling unending comfort until the end of your days. Quite the opposite; it signals a lifetime of stress and financial and emotional support that -- if all goes exceptionally well -- will not be torn from you.

In the current cultural climate, in today's society, the desire to pass on genes is a serious problem. It's a threat to the natural well-being and happiness of a man. I don't fault men with kids and am not going to pretend to know what it's like to be a father, but I've never seen objective proof their lives are at all improved aside from passing moments of occasional happiness due to love for their children.
