To be fair some of the higher paying jobs (not trades) give a math and writing test. Just to see if you rely too much on technology.

I had one of those jobs for 4 years and it was one of my best jobs I've worked for.

on the contrary, I worked in a warehouse in my 20s where the manager was a dolt.

he would leave stupid notes for us, and before he switched to "word" (he was using notepad w/out auto correction) I added a bunch of misspelled words to the dictionary.

it was the gift that kept on giving.
