I just love how they so successfully managed to distort so much information in such a short amount of space.

The writer takes special care to mention that only males are living at home with their parents or with housemates, and this is therefore abnormal because girls are too self-sufficient to do the same, therefore there must be something wrong as only males are stagnating.

Hmm ... Here's a radical idea. Perhaps it's not men who are stagnating. Perhaps the only thing that is stagnating are the wages men earn.

I mean, just going off the nonstop noise from the strong independent women of the past few decades, the number 1 rallying point they have chosen to promote is the idea that men outearn women and therefore this must change ASAP. So as the past 50 years have gone by, what exactly has come out as a result of this agenda? Women have seen their wages SKYROCKET year after year after year earning much much more than their male counterparts all while doing LESS work than their male counterparts. And men? Men have spent the past 50 years performing backbreaking labor that puts them in hospitals, have had to watch greedy companies outsource their jobs to foreign nations for cheap labor, and had their wages stagnate and reduced for DECADES all in the name of equality due to the false concept of women being paid 30% less for the same work as a sign of oppression from the "patriarchy".

And now they turn around and wonder whyen have to resort to staying at home with their parents or living with friends instead of buying a house of their own like women do? Gee I don't know, could it possibly be because men have no fucking money anymore because you stole it out of our hands and redistributed it to the other 50% of the population you're praising for being so strong & independent?

Just a thought. You know, based on ACTUAL information of what's going on in the world instead of just lame excuses and blind assumptions like the New York Times tends to engage in.

the reality of it is that most jobs don't pay sustaining wages anymore and people need family more now than ever regardless of gender. that's why more young people are living with relatives. it's not so much because they want to. likewise, good parents are more than willing to let their children stay with then if it's needed and likewise good children help their parents out and show their appreciation. with that said - this is just meant to demonize young men making it harder for them to stay with family in time's of crises so as to further divide people from family so they'll cry out for help from the government which means .... you guessed it ..... more government control. also, it's possible this young man is just an actor playing his role and this whole situation he's is a ruse similar to the whole crisis actor scenarios.
