It's all part of the Trump effect as his election, and not the man specifically, has shown that feminists/liberals entire philosophy is build upon a foundation of sand and requires controlling the narrative and being able to punish those that speak out.

Damore does not say that women are biologically less capable of engineering, but rather that they are disposed to be less interested in the types of tasks Google was having their engineers do. Damore actually goes out of his way to suggest ways Google could adjust the work environment to appeal to potential female employees.

His approach is still actually rather gynocentric: adjust the work environment to cater to female sensibilities instead of insisting that women who want to compete in this field do so at the same level as the men who apparently dominate it.
