I remember something a while ago about the differences in behavior when men and women are cheating.

Generally:

Men - when men cheat they cheat for sex or to feel dominate. Either they feel their significant others don't respect them anymore, and so they venture out. The result is usually men will try to "make up" to their spouse and shower them with gifts. However, depending upon age, men may or may not have a spike in sexual interest towards their partner especially if it is their wife. But this usually backfires. The man wants more sex. The wife pushes him away harder. The man feels more humiliated and emasculated, he cheats again.

Women - women cheating was once believed to be more emotional "she wants to feel wanted" "her husband isn't fulfilling his side of the relationship" but it coming to light that women cheat to have variety and/or find another partner. Basically - they are bored with their lives and want something new (just like fashion, cars, phones, and every other aspect of modern life). When a woman cheats she rarely feels guilt the way a man does. She rationalizes it that "if I were happy, I wouldn't be cheating, but i'm cheating, so i'm not happy. I'm the victim". Consequently, she pulls away from her husband and becomes cold. Why? Because if she were happy, she wouldn't be cheating. Since she's cheating, she's not happy. She's happy when she's with the new guy, therefore the root of her unhappiness is her husband. He's to blame for her cheating, she's (once again) the victim.

I've seen this in my own life well before I ever read that article. I cheated on one of my ex's because I wasn't happy with our sex life. Basically, it always had to be on her terms, on her schedule, at her place. The woman I cheated with her on was always accessible to me. she liked to be dominated in bed and I found that very empowering. The consequence was that I felt guilty for cheating and always wanted to get stuff for her, take her places, etc. We eventually broke up.

When I've been cheated on it's been for a variety of reasons, but usually that I am too much of square. I don't do drugs, rarely drink, I don't like parties, and I tend to be smarter than the women I date. In short - i'm boring. They cheated/left me for (in order): a moron in the airforce that was a skin head, a street racer, a marine, a guy that worked at mcdonalds (he had tattoos and was a Baptist though), a guy that "traveled for work" but somehow made a lot of money (that's all i ever knew). When they started cheating on me, each of the women started getting weird about me touching them and started rejecting sex more often.

If i ever get involved with another woman (which i won't say never anymore, but i'm not looking either), then the moment her interest in me wanes, i'm done.
