I've seen the previous studies on "masculine" or symmetrical faces during phases of the cycle, but the evidence didn't seem overly strong.
However, the evidence for attraction to higher testosterone (e.g. t-shirts of higher-T men vs. lower) seems stronger. If so, the more masculine features might just be a proxy - the men that women are attracted to just happen to have masculine features because they're also higher T.

You would be incorrect according to the article. In fact the study included women on birth control and then specifically parsed them out to see if there was any differences between the two different groups. The analysis showed no difference.
