Respectfully, this is shit. You vote to create a situation where where the government is more reflective of your values. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but at least you have had a hand in it. If more men of conviction voted and showed the slimy shit stains that run our country that we don't want, and will not accept gynocracy, we would not have to deal with it. Does it even occur to you that the reason those shit stains are in office is because women vote in higher numbers? That's why that block was so important to Killery during the presidential election.

But, I do suppose it's easier to not learn anything about the platforms, take time out of your day to go try and make changes that will benefit us all, and pontificate online about how voting only legitimizes a government that has been legitimized for more than 200 years.

Governments set the values of a nation, it always has.

Democracy is not a free system. It is a system of control dominated by those with resources.

Just because someone gave you the 'right' to choose among a limited number of options, doesn't mean that you are getting a good deal.

It works the same way as marketing: would you buy model A with limited features and lower price or model B with more features and higher price?

Whichever one you choose, the seller has already made sure that it will be a good deal for him.

But if every customer decided not to buy either of them, the seller will be forced to change the way he runs his business.

It's the same with democracy, If you have to choose among a limited number of candidates and you know that none of them are worth voting for, you should not vote.

The number of non-votes will show that the majority of the population doesn't legitimatize these Governments or their rotten system.

Or.. The better option, you do vote, and you choose a write in candidate. You aren't going to win but you are actually showing that you 1. Don't like the choices, and 2. are willing to come out and vote. I see no flaw in your logic, choosing among bad decisions is not fixing anything. They only flaw I see is that by not voting you are essentially saying: "just keep doing what you are doing, and I'll just keep taking it." If the dissatisfied and disaffected populous actually organized and showed up to vote for "nuclear holocaust", it would show up on the tallied results, this sends a message to all parties on the ballot that if there were another choice the job they are scrambling for would be forfeit. The media would almost certainly get a hold of it and run stories (that's how I learned that a local race in another state was won by a bulldog). From that, someone with actual values may be inspired to run. I know, unlikely, but unlikely is better than doing nothing at all.

Unless you are going to find a nice place in the Oxbow or similar where you can go off grid entirely and forever, these decisions will affect you to a greater or lesser extent. So, I would implore anyone of age, even if it is to write in ridiculous candidate in defiance of the crappy choices, know the issues and go vote.
