Technically, the quote is "the love of money is the root of all evil". Not money itself. Money can do great good in the world. It's the greedy people that'll do anything to get more that potentially do evil.

I would disagree with it being the root. What underlies romantic love? The belief that the two of you could be together, and the faith that you could make that work.

So if we examine both belief and faith, using generic, root definitions:

Belief: the acceptance of a premise despite a lack of evidence for or against it; you simply can’t tell either way.

Faith: the acceptance of a premise despite a preponderance of evidence against it being true.

As such, I would say belief and faith are at the root of all evil, for placing yourself into their tender mercies can not only blind you to the fact that the premise may not be valid or even rational, but can also lead you down dark paths by making you intentionally ignore the fact that the premise is actually completely wrong.

I would rather use trust, which is the acceptance of a premise based on historical occurrences (it has happened before) which, over time, provide a bulk of evidence that supports the premise (it has consistently gone the way the premise says it will). Moreover, trust is what allows the Scientific Method - humanity’s only reliable bullshit detector - to function properly. We can trust in a premise such as gravity, because it has been tested so extensively in the past and has been shown to have never been wrong. We can then do extended tests that rely on gravity without actually having to test the premise of gravity directly. It allows us to bootstrap ourselves up without having to reinvent the wheel every time.

When we utilize trust in our examination of women, we need to uncover and investigate their past behaviour. Only when their past behaviour - independent of your presence as well as in your presence - conforms to their current behaviour, can they be trusted to continue behaving like that.

And from that trust, we have AWALT. We can trust that All Women Are Like That.
