honestly to me it shows what a woman being there for a man when he has nothing can do for him. i know a particular example of a dude who met his wife when he was 12, they stayed together through thick and thin like he didn't even have money to put gas in his car and they had kids to feed and he was struggling and depressed, he wanted to quit. today he's got a very successful business and he credits her in large part because of her unwavering believe in him, and how she stayed through the toughest of times. call it what you want but a woman like that makes it pretty damn easy for a dude to brush himself off when he falls. when i fail i have no one but myself to turn to, and it takes time to recover when it's particularly harsh of a blow, and it's in those moments that the rest of the world decided to kick you when you're down. 1 person can make all the difference in those moments. when it's the woman you've given your heart and trust to, i couldn't tell you what that's like because i've never experienced it for myself. personally i'd want to see mcgregor lose and then see what happens in the times that follow, if his wife eventually leaves him since he's reached the highest he'll ever climb. if he continues the path of success she has no reason to leave, since she's become a high profile woman she now needs to be given a reason to leave, a true test of her faith.

It's an investment for her. If he lost his first couple of fights she'd have been out the door. Now she can use the hard times as leverage against him to keep her around.

McGregor isn't going to win. He is going up against an undefeated boxer and has agreed to use boxing rules, not MMA rules. He is getting paid a lot of money to do this which means 1) knows he is going to lose, but is greedy 2) A dumbass.

I really don't care who wins in this fight, I don't like either one of these men, and I think Mcgregor is especially pathetic for the reasons above.

What I think of this is that Marx was dead wrong. One multiple things, but this especially:

Religion is not the opiate of the masses. Entertainment is. Sports in particular. Panem et circenses.

To be fair, entertainment is crucial to a happy life. You can't just work and sleep and work. Some leisure is necessary, even if just as a palliative measure. But whether it's a hugely advertised exhibition match, a superbowl, a world cup, etc. It all serves to keep us happy and distracted from the people behind the curtains and their plans.

I'm not saying don't enjoy the show. Just be aware of what it truly is, and don't let it distract you from your own goals.
