I didn't know whether to post this in r/childree or r/mgtow but I thought I'd post it here to support the movement.

This is a controversial opinion but hear me out.

Dr Aubrey De Grey is a researcher at SENS who pioneers research into aging, what causes it and how it could potentially be reversed. 15 years ago he started giving talks saying that one day we would be able to reverse aging. He was laughed out of the room. Now he is one of the most respected leaders in the field of anti-aging treatment and other scientists have started to agree with him that it could work some day in the not too distant future.

He predicts tha anyone under 30 today has a 50% change of "making the cut" and staying alive until longevity escape velocity is reached. The theory goes that the first round of reverse aging treatments will reverse your biological age by a few decades. Then by the time you are biologically old again, there will be a new round of treatments available that are better and can do it all over again. Over and over, allowing you to potentially live in youthful good health for a very long time.

A quick run down of what aging is: It's the damage we accumulate over time by metabolic process that take place in the body. Like how there are vintage cars that are 100 years old but were only designed to operate for 10 years, they can be maintained by replacing parts and repairing others. The body is just like this only much, much more complicated. Diseases of old age like cancer or Alzheimer's happen because the accumulated damage puts the body at risk of developing them. So if you successfully revere-age yourself, you go back to not being at risk of them anymore. It would plummet cancer rates in one fell swoop.

What about overpoplation?

This is a commonly asked question, but there are lots of solutions.

The carrying capacity of Earth can be greatly increased with vertical farms and sea steads. With those two things alone we could handle tens of billions.

An option would be to only offer the treatment to people if they were sterilized, so the sterilization would be voluntary.

Also note that the population among the educated classes of the world is actually declining so there is no explosion to control anyway in that demographic.

Also there are many benefits from it that would accelerate progress in other areas that would mean a much higher population could be managed.

For example, there would be no elderly people and fewer children, as all the elderly people would be young again. At the start and end of life we are a burden on society. So there would be mostly working age people which would mean we would all be fucking rich because we wouldn't have to pay to support those age groups anymore.

Also, experts in their field would carry on working and making breakthroughs rather than dying pointlessly taking all their knowledge and wisdom with them. Also people would start thinking longer-term and governments would make longer term investments, rather than bad short term ones like they do now, which would bring many benefits.

This would mean the pace of progress would accelerate big time. A more advanced society could handle much higher populations in unimaginable ways. For example, what if we solved artificial gravity. We could build huge space ships and live on them. Of course colonising other planets is also an option.

So there are loads of solutions to possible population problems. The immediate benefit would be that the old get healthy again and re-join the work force.

Why would anyone want to live that long?

People often feel they would get bored. I feel the opposite. With future technology and good health, the possibilities are endless. The entertainment will be so good you wont want to ever leave. Fully immersive VR experineces, that is just around the corner. Who knows what it will be like further on. Space travel, interplanetary colonisation. Maybe we will find an advanced alien species. Who knows, but I would love to be around to see it.

All in all, most people still believe we all need to die for no reason and be replaced. If people realized this is not necessary anymore we focused on funding reverse aging research and improving the world everything would be so much better and us and our loved ones wouldn't have to die from aging, which as I'm sure you are aware is a pretty horrible thing.

MGTOW is perfectly compatible with this.

Edit: I'll quickly address the other issue that gets raised (someone has already mentioned it), which is the idea that this will only be available to the rich. This is not true. All technology starts out expensive, the first computer, the first car, the first aeroplane. They come down in price once they become economically viable for mass production. As I mentioned this brings old people out of retirement so governments could not afford to keep this stuff from the masses. Also there is a ton of money to be made by whoever solves this and they wont want to miss out on that.
